Mahekal Beach Resort recently opened in Mexico’s Playa del Carmen.
The resort, which completed a $10 million renovation, is situated on 800 ft. of beach, and features 122 individual thatched-roof bungalow accommodations. The bungalows, either oceanfront or located in the Riviera Maya jungle, offer personal plunge pools, hammocks, and private open-air terraces. Various room types—Garden View, Ocean View, Penthouse, or Oceanfront—are available, each with stone pathways leading to the doorstep. Additional amenities include two pools, a seaside jacuzzi, and two restaurants—Las Olas and Cocina—plus three bars.
