The Algonquin Resort is reopening this spring in New Brunswick after a $35 million makeover, becoming the first Canadian property in Marriott’s Autograph Collection.
Located in St. Andrews-by-the-Sea overlooking Passamaquoddy Bay, the 233-room resort’s renovations have preserved its architectural details, its 96 Juliet balconies and 16 second-floor patios. Built in 1889 for passengers from the Canadian Pacific Railway, the resort now offers two restaurants, Braxton’s Restaurant and Bar and the Clubhouse at the Golf Course; a private beach; a fitness center; a children’s playground; an 18-hole golf course; and a new 1,400-sq.-ft. spa, which offers treatments using seawater and honey from the resort’s beehives.
