Canadian expedition cruise operator, One Ocean Expeditions, offers sailings in the Canadian Arctic and Maritimes, Norwegian Arctic and Antarctica. The vessels are designed for polar exploration while combining modern comfort and amenities.

One Ocean Expeditions onshore experiences include snow-shoeing, expedition field photography, overnight sea kayaking, backcountry ski touring, and extended hiking. Wildlife viewing showcases birds, whales, seals, moskox, caribou, and polar bears. The 100-passenger ships offer onboard experts, a small gym, a hot tub on the top deck, and the One Ocean Explorer Club for kids. These sailings are ideal for “clients looking for new experiences and interesting destinations,” says Reinoud Daniels of One Ocean Expeditions. The line also offers activity-, history-, and food-focused itineraries, as well as family departures.

A sample of the itineraries available through One Ocean Expeditions is the Canadian Maritimes’ 10-day journey, Fins and Fiddles, sailing July 16-25, 2016. This itinerary takes passengers to an area known for its Celtic tradition, as well as its music and cuisine. Guests will take part in shore excursions with expert guides while touring Nova Scotia, Quebec, Newfoundland, and St. Pierre ed Miquelon. This itinerary also includes live music by traditional Newfoundland fold singer, Jim Payne; workshops with a professional photographer; visits to the tablelands of Gros Morne, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and Sable Island; and family programing including french classes, as well as hiking, biking, kayaking, and paddle boarding. Pre- and post-cruise options are also available in Louisbourg, including Fortress of Louisbourg, The Sydney & Louisburg Railway Museum, and the Louisbourg lighthouse. Rates start at $2,995.
