On July 1, Cunard’s remastered Queen Mary 2 is sailing roundtrip from New York on an Independence Day Celebration cruise with political consultant Mary Matalin, and political commentator James Carville. Matalin and Carville, authors of the two national bestsellers, “All’s Fair: Love, War and Running for President” and “Love & War: Twenty Years, Three Presidents, Two Daughters and One Louisiana Home,” respectively, will serve as Cunard Insights speakers during the cruise, joining guests in an onboard discussion entitled “Perspectives on the Modern Presidency,” as well as a Q&A with the ship’s entertainment manager.

The 5-night sailing, featuring ports of call in Boston and Halifax, Canada, will also be the debut of the Queen Mary 2. Fresh off a 25-day dry dock and extensive refurbishment, the vessel includes 15 new single cabins, 30 additional Britannia Club Staterooms, and an expanded kennel, plus a refreshed Kings Court, the new Verandah restaurant and the Carinthia Lounge. A revamped design and decor will also be featured throughout the Grill suites and restaurants, as well as all Britannia staterooms. The ship’s executive chef, Nicolas Oldroyd, will also be introducing new menus across the ship from pub menus to fine dining. For more information, call (800) 728-6273 or visit cunard.com.
