At the Lansdowne Resort in Virginia, families have the opportunity to take part in an adult version of hide-and-seek with a geocashing adventure on the hotel’s grounds. After this fun-filled activity, families can hop on the shuttle transfer to Udvar-Hazy Air & Space Museum, home to the largest collection of aircraft and space aircraft in the world. For the adventure-seeking family visiting Washington, The Suncadia Resort’s Suncadia Family Adventure package takes families on a guided nature trail hike with views from the Manashtash Ridge, Thorpe Mountain, or they can enjoy the scenery of the Cooper Lake hike. Families will also take part in a downriver adventure with a 3-hour guided rafting expedition on the River Float Trip on the Yakima or Cle Elum rivers. Art-lovers traveling to Washington, D.C. can immerse themselves in the art scene at the Embassy Row Hotel with the Mini-Monet Family Vacation package, which gives families the opportunity to unleash their inner artists in Dupont Circle. Families start their day at The Phillips Collection, a private art gallery that features exhibitions on Rothko and Georgia O’Keefe. Then they’ll stop at ArtJamz for two hours of studio time, to take a jab at creating their own masterpiece. Families then have ample time to explore the capital with four all-day metro passes. Families traveling to Texas can enjoy the Hidden Passages Adventure Tour when staying at La Cantera Hill Country Resort. Families will visit the Natural Bridge Caverns, where, outfitted with caving gear, each guest is lowered by rope through a 160-ft. well shaft. The 3-hour adventure will have them traveling approximately one mile, going down to 230 ft. below surface level to the Fault Room, which features one of the longest soda star formations in North America.
