When it comes to ski vacations, Staley explains, many Destination Hotels & Resorts condo clients flock to Vail or Aspen/Snowmass. “For whatever reason, people typically fall for one or the other and will go back. Some people move around, but a lot of people come back year after year, especially with the condominium environment. They try a condominium, they like it and they want it again,” he states. What’s the appeal? Multiple bedrooms, a kitchen, a spacious living area—the comfort factor that vacationers seek, especially those that want a longer stay. These guests are not uncommon to Destination Hotels & Resorts, particularly among those coming in from Europe and Australia.

According to Staley, Snowmass is particularly appealing for families, as there is a lot of ski-in/ski-out product but not as much nightlife as in Aspen. As a result, it appeals more to clients “…who have kids, who are going to ski really hard all day and everyone is going to crash by 8 p.m. because they’re exhausted,” he says.

Here, guests enjoy onsite ski rentals, ski transfers between mountains and shuttle service throughout, so should they want to try one mountain experience one day and another the next, their equipment will be waiting when they get there.

Rates for The Villas at Snowmass start at $179 per night and for Top of the Village at $149 per night. Destination Hotels & Resorts is paying agents 15 percent commission on these two properties on direct bookings for any future dates through Dec. 31.

Clients who book Wailea Beach Villas will receive a welcome gift basket with Maui goodies on your and your agency’s behalf—just visit the “travel agents” section of or call the number below to receive the amenity form.

Specialized rentals, says Staley, means different things in different markets. There are places where you have to bring your own sheets, for example. “And then there’s what we do: a four-diamond experience with concierge service, front desk, complimentary transportation throughout the village, the unit is cleaned and refreshed every day, there’s 24-hour maintenance. It’s just like a hotel experience, except you have a kitchen.”

Specialized rentals might not be a new phenomenon, yet increasingly enticing and commissionable options continue to build up the accommodations landscape in some of North America’s most popular destinations.
