Boutique hotel group Lark Hotels is expanding its luxury collection of properties with the recent opening of the new Field Guide hotel in the iconic Stowe village of Vermont, just minutes from Stowe Mountain Resort, and next month’s unveiling of The Merchant in Salem, Massachusetts. Guests checking in to the Field Guide luxury lodge receive a hard copy field guide and a fully loaded iPad to use as virtual tour guides when exploring the art galleries, shops, craft beer distilleries and restaurants in the Mount Mansfield area. The hotel’s 30 guestrooms and suites were designed in a modern rustic theme using a mix of textures and layers in an autumnal color palette of green, gold, dusky purple, gray and orange. Mounted cardboard buck heads and antlers adorn the guestrooms’ birch tree walls, which are blanketed in quirky wallpaper patterns depicting miniature skiers gliding down a mountain and birds on branches. Faux sheepskin rugs, wooden headboards and trail maps complete the mountain resort feel. Amenities include a heated pool, an outdoor jacuzzi and a guest lounge with two fireplaces, and games. As an added bonus, guests staying in one of Field Guide’s 13 suites also enjoy a fireplace in their suite’s living room. In winter 2016, Field Guide plans to launch its signature restaurant and lounge, Picnic Social, featuring locally sourced comfort food, craft beers, and spirits.
Lark Hotels is expected to open its new 11-room hotel, The Merchant, on Nov. 25, 2015. George Washington stayed in a room in this location when he visited Salem in 1789. Guests can book the exact room where Washington slept—which is now named the George Washington Room. For more information, visit larkhotels.com.
