Old Town in Kissimmee has announced its grand reopening on April 6, 2019, following two years of renovation and expansion.

Built in 1986, the resort is a recreation of a classic turn-of-the-century Florida town featuring historical architecture and distinctive storefronts.

The multimillion-dollar renovation has added 12,000 sq. ft. of retail and restaurant space to the resort, including new shops and three new dining options. Froggers Grill & Bar is now open, with Shoney’s Restaurant and Bobby’s Garage Bar set to open in spring 2019.

A new 86-ft. Ferris wheel imported from Italy has been added to the refurbished original area of the complex, along with four new fountains, property-wide LED lighting, a new sound system, a renovated event space and more.

“The restoration of this iconic Orlando-area attraction is reinventing the Kissimmee landscape,” said Thearon Scurlock, v.p. and general manager of Old Town, in press material. “We are dedicated to preserving and restoring this classic venue while giving locals and visitors an entirely new experience built on years of tradition.”

Old Town’s musical acts have also been upgraded and the frequency of shows has been expanded to include Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Karaoke has been added every Tuesday, a free family movie night every Sunday, and a revamped Bike Night on Thursdays.

Old Town will continue its tradition of car shows and car cruises that it is known for, where pre-1975 hot rods and antique vehicles parade down the streets every Friday and Saturday night. The year-round haunted house will also continue as usual, and the Great Magic Hall will continue to offer several magic shows daily.

“This refurbishment has solidified Old Town’s reputation as one of Central Florida’s most popular ‘must-visit’ attractions,” said Scurlock, in press materials. “We are excited that Old Town has embarked on a new era in its history and welcome both locals and tourists to rediscover its simple pleasures and classic American fun.”
