Over the weekend, I had the opportunity to indulge in an aromatherapy treatment at St. Somewhere Spa at Margaritaville Hollywood Beach. After my 50-minute treatment, I felt as if I was leaving paradise. I walked in in a slightly flustered mood, but when I left, I felt as if, “I got stuck in paradise; I’m free in my head; Changed my attitude…” just as Jimmy Buffet’s lyrics to “Still in Paradise” point out.
My therapist, Jeff, made it a point to release the stress in every muscle (and in my frantic thoughts, too), while kneading out every bit of tension. Though, I can confirm this wasn’t my normal, quiet session, Jeff, who has a background in pre-med, answered every question to my sore muscles, and pointed out ways I can ease them at home and patterns I should change—like apparently my really bad sleeping form. His dedication to his practice was evident when I stepped into my treatment room as he presented me with the three essential oils offered for the Breathe In, Breathe Out Aromatherapy massage I had chosen, but followed it up with, “I brought my own as well, so if you’re interested in other scents, feel free to pick the one that calls to you.” I explained I had had a tense morning, to which he immediately suggested I add lavender to the mix to make sure I leave refreshed and at ease.
