Rail travel is expanding in both Canada and the U.S. with new itineraries and even a new departure destination.

For example, Yankee Leisure Group has launched Via Rail Vacations by Railbookers for the U.S. market.

“With the growth in rail travel overall, and specifically throughout Canada, we are excited to launch a dedicated brochure and over 40 unique products throughout Canada on VIA Rail,” said Frank Marini, president of Yankee Leisure Group, in press materials.

Amtrak Vacations has added two new itineraries to its portfolio, both featuring roundtrip travel into and out of the rail line’s new stop in Roanoke, Virginia. The new getaways are: Washington, D.C. Getaway Roundtrip from Roanoke, which includes accommodations on the Northeast Regional to Washington, D.C., a 2-night stay in Washington, D.C. and several tours and activities; and the Roanoke Getaway Roundtrip from Washington, D.C., which includes roundtrip train accommodations to Roanoke on the Northeast Regional, plus a 2-night stay in Roanoke, and dinner.
