Wilderness Scotland has launched a range of women-only adventure tours that include hiking, sea kayaking, cycling and more.

From sea kayaking among the Summer Isles to hiking the West Highland Way, adventure tour operator Wilderness Scotland has introduced a wide range of guided women-only departures for 2019.

“Of course, women have always been active in the outdoors but in the past, it’s been hard to be heard in a culture that can sometimes feel quite male-dominated,” said Rachael Gavan, Wilderness Scotland’s program manager, in press materials. “We are delighted to be offering a range of awesome female-only departures this year.”

One example of a women-only adventure tour now offered by Wilderness Scotland is the Mountain Biking Coast to Coast itinerary departing on June 4, 2019. This multi-day mountain bike ride will take travelers across 233 miles and over 22,965 ft. of ascent and descent as they take in the scenery of the Scottish Highlands. The trails are varied, ranging from flowing single track to rocky and challenging mountain passes to mellow forest fire-road. Beginning in Aberdeen, cyclists will leave the city behind and ride all the way across the Highlands through the backcountry to the tip of the Ardnamurchan Peninsula, the westernmost point of mainland Britain.

Another example itinerary is the 5-night Sea Kayaking in the Summer Isles tour, which departs on June 22, 2019 to explore this little-known archipelago of deserted islands with its wild coastlines and white-sand beaches. Travelers on this journey can expect to paddle in crystal-clear waters, spot whales and dolphins along the way, and camp in remote coastal locations.

Other women-only tours departing this year include various Wilderness Walking itineraries in locations such as The Orkney Islands, Assynt, Uist and Barra, plus the Isle of Skye. Also available are an Introduction to Sea Kayaking itinerary and a Road Cycling- Skye and the Inner Hebrides tour. Departure dates for this new set of adventures range from April 27 to Sept. 28, 2019. Starting prices also range from approximately $1,130 pp to $2,344 pp.
