Cunard is marking the 50th anniversary of the Queen Elizabeth 2 launch with a big announcement for the luxury cruise world: the addition of its first new ship in 12 years.

Set to be delivered in 2022, the currently unnamed ship will join the fleet with Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria, and Queen Elizabeth, making it the first time since 1998 that Cunard will have four ships in simultaneous service.

The soon-to-be-added ship will carry 3,000 guests and will also be the 249th ship to don the Cunard flag since the company’s founding in 1839. This news comes only two years after the luxury cruise line celebrated its 175th anniversary.
