Carnival Corporation has chosen Christine Duffy as the new president of Carnival Cruise Line.

Duffy brings more than 30 years of experience to the cruise line. She started her career as a travel agent in Philadelphia at McGettigan Partners, and currently serves as president and CEO of Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), where she has led many advancements, including the globalization of cruise industry associations around the world to create a unified message for promoting cruising.

“This is exciting news for Christine Duffy, Carnival Cruise Lines and travel agents. Christine brings in new, fresh perspective and totally understands the importance of travel agents after years of putting travel agents first. She’s sharp, personable and someone who I think can really help Carnival not only better connect with travel agents with her existing relationships, but also brings strong leadership and vision. The Cruise Planners team is looking forward to what we’ll see from her and Carnival moving ahead,” says Vicky Garcia, COO and co-owner of Cruise Planners, an American Express Travel Representative.

Duffy will begin her role at Carnival on Feb. 1, reporting to Arnold Donald, CEO of Carnival Corporation. She also currently serves on various travel industry boards including U.S. Travel Association (USTA), the advisory board for Starwood Hotels, and the Board of Directors for Visit Florida. She also founded Meeting Professionals International’s Women’s Leadership Initiative, which delivered research and programs to help women in the industry advance their careers.
