There’s a new wellness-focused cruise line coming this year. This summer, Blue World Voyages, the world’s first wellness-focused cruise line dedicated to athletic and healthy lifestyles, will take its inaugural voyage.
The inaugural ship will be the first to dedicate an entire deck to sports, exercise and wellness. The deck will be outfitted with golf and soccer simulators, batting cages, a functional training center, yoga, spinning, and TRX studios. A second full deck will focus on spa and rejuvenation services such as a relaxing therapy tub, indoor and outdoor treatment rooms, and a solarium.
The 350-guest ship is carving a new niche in the speciality cruise segment of “active lifestyle cruising.” The growing demand of travelers who are seeking a healthy and active vacation experience is on an upward trend with the global wellness industry now worth $4.2 trillion and wellness tourism currently experiencing a 6.5 percent annual growth. The new cruise line will meet this growing demand of travelers.
“Blue World Voyages was created for health-conscious individuals, sports and fitness enthusiasts, and those in search of personal improvement,” says Gene Meehan, chairman and founder, Blue World Voyages in press materials. “Our focus on active lifestyle cruising is not an option or an add-on; it forms the core of our overall cruise travel experience, deeply embedded in every aspect of the product, from ship design and onboard programs to dining options and itineraries.”
Blue World Voyages will also introduce a new ship configuration with 26 luxury one- and two-bedroom residences. There will also be three pools, including a seawater lap pool when docked that will be lowered into the ocean adjacent to the vessel for guests to swim. Guests will also get to enjoy locally-sourced farm-to-table cuisine and active shore excursions such as snorkeling, scuba diving, hiking, kayaking, biking, running, and more.
The inaugural season will start with a sailing through the Mediterranean calling on destinations such as Italy, Greece, Spain, France, Portugal, Corsica, and Croatia. As a smaller vessel, Blue World Voyages will take guests to ports that larger cruises can’t, which allows them to explore unspoiled reefs, hidden waterfalls, and secluding hiding and biking trails.
