New suites are opening up around the world offering guests everything from views of the Colosseum to health-inspired packages.

To celebrate Rocco Forte’s Hotel Astoria’s 100th anniversary, the St. Petersburg hotel has debuted a new Czar’s Suite overlooking St. Isaac’s Square.

The 3,500-sq.-ft.-suite is set on the sixth floor and features a library with 300 Russian classics; a full kitchen and bar with a dining room seating up to 16 people; a gym with treatment area; a bedroom with a walk-in closet; and a marble bathroom with a double shower and flat-screen TV. The suite also incorporates antiques, from gold lamps to striped armchairs and sofas, that were returned to the hotel from President Putin’s Konstantinovsky Palace.

“As with all of our properties, the Czar’s Suite reflects its location in the heart of St. Petersburg. We have created a contemporary Russian feel with a nod to the city’s fascinating heritage by using an eclectic mix of authentic Russian art and antiques, original parquet flooring along with more modern elements including rugs with bold constructive geometric patterns, silk wallpapers and contemporary classic pieces,” says Olga Polizzi, the director of design for the brand.

The new suite is part of the hotel’s multi-million dollar renovation that included 50 new jr. suites, the new Astoria Cafe with a Russian brasserie-style menu and the new Lichfield Bar.
