Tanzania tour operator, Visit Arusha, announced its Adventures for Women African tours geared for single, divorced, or widowed women who don’t have a travel partner to tag along with.

The 6- to 7-day tours take travelers to destinations that are off the beaten path such as visiting less-traveled national parks and mountains; islands; and also learning about Africa’s unique cultures by exploring first-hand the traditional tribes and their hunting, bee keeping, and herbal medicine practices; rituals; and dances. Excursions include game drives in the Ngorongoro Crater—also known as the Garden of Eden, recognized as the 8th Wonder of the World, and a UNESCO World Heritage site and stays at the Arusha Coffee Lodge, where the ladies can take private tours of the coffee plantation. Travelers will stay at various luxury or unique lodges, include the Four Seasons lodge in the Serengeti, which features a spa, and travelers will have several options for customized add-on trips. The women can also choose from trip extensions such as a visit to a Maasai village, a hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti, walks with bush men at Lake Eyasi, climbing an active volcano, or night game drives in Tarangire, orZanzibar beach holidays. The first Adventures for Women tour is scheduled for February 2015. Rates vary depending on options chosen, however an example of a standard 6-day safari for six guests in four-star accommodations during peak season starts at $2,250 pp. For more information, visit visitarusha.com/safari-for-women.
