Big Five Tours & Expeditions is stepping up its game when it comes to India tours, offering travelers new, more “authentic” experiences.

“Much like we have already done in Kenya and Ecuador, we took a hard look at our own India journeys and opted to search for a more authentic vision. The real India is home to some of the most hospitable people in the world,” says president Ashish Sanghrajka.

The new 17-day Deserts of North India trip incorporates elements from tented camp expeditions in Africa, with luxury tented camp accommodations in Jaisalmer, Nimaj and Ranthambore, including The Serai, a Relais & Chateaux property, in the Thar Desert. Travelers also experience India’s landmarks, like the Taj Mahal, Jaipur’s historic Amber Fort, and small mud homes in rural towns and farms in Nimaj and Mihir Garth, where travelers will learn about North India’s desert cultures. Another highlight of the trip is a safari in Ranthambore National Park, where they may spot Bengal tigers, sloth bears and hyena.

Rates start at $8,840 pp. For more information, visit bigfive.com. For more on Big Five Tours & Expeditions, see Q&A with Big Five Tours’ President.
