River cruise specialist VIVA Cruises is entering the expedition market with its new ship MS Seaventure, formally MS Bremen, launching in May 2021.

Seaventure’s  maiden voyage will depart Amsterdam on May 15 2021, arriving in Warnemuunde, Hamburg May 21. The ship will then sail on 13 different unique itineraries from Iceland to the Brazilian Rainforest, including:

  • Baltic Sea
  • Iceland & Spitsbergen
  • Iceland & Greenland
  • Iceland & Canada / Quebec
  • Transatlantic
  • South America

Seaventure can accommodate 164 guests with 82 cabins and suites. A 10 percent early booking discount is valid on all expeditions booked before the end of February 2020. In addition, commissions from ten percent are available to the travel trade with group allocations and net rates available.

“We have always aimed to offer our customers a different perspective on the destinations they visit and the launch of our expedition cruises takes this one step further. We will be offering a truly unique small ship experience without compromising on quality or our high standards. Our itineraries offer something very different for travellers who want to get close to some of the most breathtaking scenery and nature on earth,” said Andrea Kruse, COO of VIVA Cruises, in a statement.

Remote destinations will be featured as is the case with its Western Arctic and Labrador itinerary, a 17-day trip that starts in Kangerlussuaq, Greenland and visits a number of places in Greenland and Labrador including Greenland’s capital and cultural centre Nuuk. Guests will experience regular sightings of humpback, fin and minke whales before arriving in Quebec 17 days later. Prices start from $12,150 pp.

The Seaventure has been specially designed for these unique itineraries; its size allows it to enter remote harbors and winding rivers, not to mention its maneuverability, enabling it to change course at short notice to observe animals and nature. Its unique design also means it can glide safely through icy seas.

A fleet of twelve sturdy Zodiacs enable guests to view nature upclose hand, and the handpicked group of experts on board will not only guide guests on excursions, but will present a series of interesting talks and lectures relevant to each destination.

All cruises will be all-inclusive and will feature a breakfast buffet, lunch, dinner (multi-course gourmet menus) and snacks; a gourmet restaurant with fine dining; and high-quality alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages (mineral water, soft drinks, juices, various coffee specialties, tea, sparkling wine, aperitif, house wines, selection of beers, long drinks, cocktail of the day). Tips and gratuities are also included.
