Setting: Refined luxury. The fact that the St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort (877-ST REGIS; starwoodhotels.com/stregis), located on the northeastern corridor of Puerto Rico, is the only Gold-Certified Audubon Signature Sanctuary on the island says a lot. But the reasons are obvious. It lies at the foot of the 28,000-acre El Yunque National Forest—the only tropical national forest on U.S. soil—bordered by the 5,000-acre Espiritu Santo River State Preserve, and of course, there are also two miles of unspoiled beach stretching before it. Amidst this precious setting, guests will find 139 guestrooms featuring a contemporary decor sprinkled with colorful touches and accented with beamed ceilings and custom-designed furnishings, as well as a private terrace with a garden or ocean view. That’s all complemented by the St. Regis Butler Service, for those who just can’t live without. “This secluded location has the benefit of providing travelers the opportunity to savor the tropics and completely relax amongst the calming sounds of native tropical birds, crashing ocean waves and brisk beach breezes without the disturbance of city noises,” says Mark Bodnar, spa director of the Remede Spa. “This really allows travelers to 100 percent focus on yoga and completely get lost in meditation.”

Retreat: The Bespoke Yoga Retreat, created by the resort in partnership with Yada Yada Yoga, a lifestyle agency for holistic fitness based in based in Beverly Hills and New York. There are, of course, morning and evening yoga classes led by Denise Hopkins of Yada Yada Yoga, taking place on the resort’s tranquil Plantation Lawn overlooking the sea, but there’s also breakfast daily at Fern, lunch daily at Sea Grapes and dinner nightly at Molasses. Guests can also opt for private yoga instruction at an additional fee.

“Women can really bond together through a supportive and relaxing experience like the Yada Yada Yoga retreat,” says Bodnar. “Getting away as a group and experiencing all the benefits of the resort and the surroundings can really help friends have fun, feel stronger together and build confidence. Women can connect with each other on a whole new level.”
