iberostar grand hotel rose hall Iberostar’s latest addition to its Jamaican resort complex is also its most luxurious. The Iberostar Grand Hotel Rose Hall is the biggest departure from the typical Iberostar product. In place of the other resorts’ action-packed pool areas, the Grand offers a serene, luxurious swimming pool area with three tiered and cascading swimming pools with waterfalls and infinity edges, lined with padded lounge chairs, cabanas and palm trees. The effect is a vibe that’s more South Beach than Caribbean all-inclusive. Inside, public areas are decorated with royal flair—marble floors, winding staircases, intricate details on walls and fabrics for upholstery and curtains. And the rooms themselves benefited from a significant upgrade, adding plasma TVs, DVD players, iPod docking stations, and top-of-the-line Gilchrist and Soames bath products in the spacious bathrooms of its 293 all-suite accommodations.

And these are just the beginnings of the perks to the Grand upgrade. The resort is also home to a full-service spa, offering its own indoor swimming pool and couples treatments. Premium brand liquor and a variety of international and domestic beer is served at each of the Grand’s six bars. And the dining here is top-notch, from a steak and seafood restaurant decorated in imported Italian tiles, to a sleek, low-lit Japanese restaurant serving up teppanyaki and sushi.

But perhaps the most alluring benefit to booking a stay at the Grand is this: the ability to take advantage of the amenities, restaurants and activities taking place all across the complex. Whether it’s a merengue class at the Iberostar Rose Hall Beach Hotel, the beautiful oceanfront patio fronting the Iberostar Rose Hall Suites’ buffet, or simply laying back and relaxing in peace around the Grand’s series of swimming pools, guests with a room at the Grand can truly do it all. No matter which hotel they choose, however, clients can expect a true all-inclusive experience, with tips and taxes, food and beverages, non-motorized watersports, entertainment and resort activities included. Rates start at $336 pp per night dbl.

nearby attractions Iberostar’s Jamaica complex is a vacation destination in itself, it’s true. But that’s no reason for clients to stay inside the resort gates—especially when Rose Hall offers so much just a short trip away. One of the area’s most popular attractions sits no more than a 10-minute drive from the complex: Scotchie’s, the legendary jerk shack serving up spicy pork and chicken alongside traditional Jamaican sides like festival and bammy. Scotchie’s has made the most of its success lately, opening a sister restaurant in Ocho Rios named, appropriately, Scotchie’s Too, and most recently launching the island’s newest culinary themed attraction, the Jerk Trail, which leads clients on a tour of the island from jerk shack to jerk shack, including a stop at the historic Walkerswood farm.
