“These awards are a testament to Rail Europe’s strong connection with the agent community,” he says. “We know train travel remains an integral part of every European vacation and with our exclusive agent website, online training, and live chat sessions, we’ve equipped agents with the ability to research and book train travel faster than ever before.”
New agreements with two major national railroads in the United Kingdom and in Spain this year gave agents the ability to book advance tickets for their clients at the same rates than if they were to purchase the tickets locally. As a result, Rail Europe has since doubled its number of rail travelers in the U.K. and has seen an almost 90 percent increase in rail travelers to Spain compared with previous year’s sales.
A new “Print at Home” feature was launched for rail tickets in 2011, allowing agents to cater to their “last-minute clients.” New City Cards providing clients with a time- and money-saving sightseeing option have also been added this year, with plans to make more destinations available in 2012.
