Turks & Caicos Keeps Expanding

Plans for The Shore Club certainly sound like a slice of heaven, with white picket fences, tropical landscaping and plenty of amenities for discerning guests. Three separate pools provide privacy and personal space for bathers and sun-seekers, including one oceanfront pool and one adults-only pool, included, Beswick says, “…so parents can get away from children—their own, or someone else’s.” A small but high-end spa will surround an inland lagoon with tennis courts directly behind. And the Provo Golf & Country Club is literally in the resort’s backyard, giving guests access to its 18 championship holes and golf course.

Development of the site is expected to resume this summer (it was halted during a change in government), with the opening planned for 2012.

villa del mar Beswick isn’t the first to look beyond Grace Bay Beach. Bill Daniell, one of the developers of Villa del Mar, found an equally intriguing opportunity just off the beach two years ago—with one very important benefit for clients.

“We’re affordable, because we’re not on the beach,” he explains. “But we are 300 ft. from the beach. We are right behind Grace Bay Club. We share the same beach access, the same pool and beach service, and the same cocktail service,” he continues, noting Villa del Mar’s beach service that provides all of the above from the resort. “You get all the amenities of Grace Bay Club for a third of the price.”

Of course, sticking around Villa del Mar has its benefits, too. Two swimming pools and one hot tub are surrounded by padded lounge chairs with umbrellas; pool service will serve you here, too. Its 42 units are decorated with dark wood and sandy hues, giving interiors a modern colonial vibe. And flat-screen TVs, stainless steel kitchen appliances, granite countertops and laundry facilities come standard.

“We’re exceeding everybody’s expectations, with quality and service,” Daniell says. “We’re providing five-star service for a much lesser price.”

Soon, even more clients will be able to experience Villa del Mar’s brand of affordability on Grace Bay; the property’s second phase is slated to break ground in 2011, featuring another 42 units, essentially an extension of what the property achieved in its first phase, Daniell says. “It’ll be across the street from Phase One, with a restaurant and a larger gym facility.” That development is expected to be completed in early-2012. But in the meantime, Daniell says, guests are clamoring for the existing product. “We call our location ‘center ice,’ because it’s right in the middle of everything…and we have a personal touch for every guest that goes here. We’re getting plenty of repeat customers. With our quality and location, word is spreading.”

Rates at Villa del Mar start at $195 per room per night dbl, with up to two children included.

tamarind Set on its own private island, the high-profile luxury resort Parrot Cay has also recently introduced new product. Set in the residential Parrot Cay Estates section of the island, the newest property to debut here is Tamarind, a 5-bedroom villa that’s separated into two separate complexes. The 3-bedroom main house includes its own spacious deck and swimming pool, plus butler’s quarters for live-in butler service. The 2-bedroom guesthouse has a deck and swimming pool of its own. But the biggest benefits come from renting Tamarind as one single 5-bedroom property: a private gym and services of a private chef throughout your clients’ stay.

Naturally, a villa stay here also includes Parrot Cay’s many amenities, perhaps the most famous of which is its COMO Shambhala Retreat, a spa with a vast and varied menu of treatments, as well as a 1,300-sq.-ft. yoga room, outdoor jacuzzi garden, Japanese baths and more. For a change of scenery, guests can opt for meals at Lotus poolside restaurant, or at Terrace, for Mediterranean cuisine in a romantic private verandah. And there’s no end to the activities available here, from standard watersports like snorkeling and kayaking to bonefishing, private cruises, day trips to other islands and more.

Rates for Tamarind start at $12,100 for three bedrooms; $6,050 for two bedrooms; and $18,150 for the entire 5-bedroom unit. Regular rates at Parrot Cay start at $696 per room per night.
