radisson st. martin resort, marina & spa Porto Cupecoy isn’t the only recent development on the island to unveil a brand-new marina. The Radisson St. Martin Resort, Marina & Spa opened in December last year boasting a 150-slip marina along with its 189 guestrooms and 63 suites. The former Le Meridian resort in Anse Marcel, has been completely re-branded while keeping the focus on upscale travel. The elegant, laid-back feel of the French side of the island follows guests through the tropical foliage of the entrance courtyard through to its lovely manicured lawns and inside the guestrooms themselves, all done up in colorful Plantation-style with features like flat-screen TVs, spacious bathrooms and distinctive furnishings like carved wooden headboards. For a more modern vibe, guests need only venture to C Le Restaurant, an open-air beachfront restaurant with a lounge feel that draws plenty of locals and visitors alike to its bar in the evenings. Le Marche, a more casual brasserie serving brick oven pizzas and rotisserie dishes, and Le Lobby Bar, offering light snacks and tapas, round out the resort’s dining offerings.

But water itself is the main draw to the property, whether it’s the salty ocean waves at the beach, the luxury slips of its marina, or the relaxing views from the resort’s freeform infinity pool. For the classic Caribbean resort experience—relaxing in a sunny, serene setting, that is—the infinity pool is the place to be, surrounded with plenty of deck space and giving both couples and families traveling together their space. Small children can splash around in the zero-sand-beach entry at one end, while travelers looking for a quieter experience can congregate on its other side. Steps away, the beach offers plenty of loungers and umbrellas for clients who want to relax with their toes in the sand and the waves lapping at their feet.

Then there’s the marina, an essential part of any traveler’s Radisson St. Martin experience, no matter whether they own a boat. Clients can opt for a water transfer from the airport on the Dutch side of the island, cutting down on their travel time and putting them in a Caribbean state of mind even before they’ve checked in. And once on property, they’ll be able to take advantage of the many opportunities for exploring St. Martin available right from the dock. Companies like Scoobi Doo charters offer tours of offshore destinations like Pinel Island—home to casual beachfront restaurants offering dishes worthy of the Caribbean’s famed cuisine capital—as well as sunset cruises. Deep-sea fishing and scuba diving excursions are also common ventures from the marina.

Funjet Vacations offers a 3-night package to the Radisson St. Martin starting at $2,113.10 per room dbl, including airfare, accommodations, roundtrip transfers from the airport, and complimentary breakfast. Regular room rates at the Radisson start at $495 per room per night and thanks to its 2010 Early Winter Sale, clients can receive their third night free.
