AmaWaterways’ highly anticipated new vessel, the AmaMagna, is set to make her debut on the Danube River this May 2019, but not before the river cruise line teases both travel advisors and their clients with news of the ship’s latest features, wellness offerings, and its travel expert godmother.

“At twice the width of traditional European river cruise ships, AmaMagna is truly one-of-a-kind. She has been a dream of ours for a long time, and this year is the perfect time to introduce this new concept of luxurious river cruising,” says Kristin Karst, executive v.p. and co-owner of AmaWaterways.

With a design exuding contemporary elegance, AmaMagna features a total of 98 well-appointed staterooms, many of which are spacious, full balcony suites measuring between 355 and 710 sq. ft. AmaMagna’s cuisine options include two new dining venues to further entice repeat AmaWaterways guests: Jimmy’s Wine Bar Restaurant, named for AmaWaterways’ late co-founder Jimmy Murphy, and the Al Fresco Restaurant, with retractable ceiling and side windows for guests to indulge in views of the picturesque Danube and the towns that dot its shores.

“We are incredibly proud to introduce a ship with so many new and amazing amenities for our guests to further personalize their river cruise vacation,” Karst says when asked about what features she believes guests will enjoy the most on board AmaMagna. Personalization on the new vessel comes in the form of a robust complimentary daily excursion program that includes escorted hiking and biking tours, and more. In addition, late last year, AmaWaterways announced the continuation and expansion of its partnership with Backroads to bring over 120 specialty sailing opportunities for cycling enthusiasts, including six full-ship charters and additional group sailings aboard AmaMagna.

“Personally, I am passionate about making it easy for our guests to lead a healthy and active lifestyle, even while on vacation,” adds Karst, and there are plenty of opportunities for guests to stay fit while sailing on the AmaMagna. “Our new Zen Wellness Studio offers more onboard exercise space for group fitness classes such as core-strengthening and resistance band training, led by our professionally trained Wellness Hosts. Guests can also take advantage of a juice bar, two massage rooms, a Sun Deck with a heated pool and the innovative Water Sports Platform from which intimate excursions in the Sundowner vessel will depart. The options are endless!”

With so many amenities designed to enhance the guest experience as they sail on one of AmaMagna’s Danube River itineraries, it’s only fitting that Samantha Brown, 17-year travel industry veteran and TV host, be named the ship’s godmother. Brown will christen the ship during a ceremony in Vilshofen, Germany in July 2019.

“We feel this ship will appeal to so many types of travelers, including multi-generational families and first-time river cruisers who are more accustomed to ocean cruising,” says Karst. “AmaMagna is a symbol of the innovation and luxury that AmaWaterways is known for and a highly anticipated addition to our fleet.”
