There’s a new destination on the Danube River, and it’s not a new Christmas market or off-the-beaten-path town. Set to make its debut in May 2019, AmaWaterways’ newest state-of-the-art ship, AmaMagna, is a destination in its own right.

Measuring nearly twice the width of traditional European river ships, AmaMagna represents the years-in-the-making vision of Rudi Schreiner, co-owner and president of AmaWaterways. With this vision of a larger vessel comes more onboard activities, generous personal space, additional dining opportunities, and enhanced evening entertainment.

When complete, AmaMagna will feature 98 luxuriously appointed staterooms, most of which will measure 355 sq. ft. and include outside balconies, while six Grand Suites will measure at 474 sq. ft. An Owner’s Suite will also be available, featuring 710 sq. ft. of space, a bathroom with double sinks and separate bathtub and showers, plus spacious sitting areas and beds facing the riverThese spacious suites and staterooms are much larger than those normally found on river cruise vessels, making AmaMagna a compelling choice for ocean cruisers or those who simply value more personal space. But the accommodations on board this vessel offer more than just extra breathing room, they will also feature individually controlled air-conditioning, in-room safes, and entertainment on demand with complimentary high-speed Internet, movies, music, and English-language TV.

As mealtimes roll around, AmaMagna’s dining options are sure to satisfy the tastes of every traveler on board with multiple dining venues, including The Chef’s Table specialty restaurant, a main dining room offering AmaWaterways’ trademark cuisine, an al fresco restaurant, and a wine bar and restaurant, featuring private wine tables.

When guests are not indulging their tastebuds or relaxing in their suites and staterooms, AmaMagna will offer several opportunities for guests to enjoy themselves on board. The vessel will include a large, heated sundeck pool with a separate whirlpool and pop-up sky bar; a multi-functional Health and Wellness Studio with a fitness center ideal for the expertly led small-group exercise classes; a hair salon and two spas offering an array of massages and manicure-pedicure services; plus a water sports platform with sleek river craft, including a Sundowner boat for small-group excursions. The ship will not dock parallel to other vessels in most ports guaranteeing guests always enjoy stunning views of their destinations along the Danube, and for those interested in exploring ashore, the excursions offered to AmaMagna guests have been handpicked by AmaWaterways’ owners.
