Amtrak has named Charles W. “Wick” Moorman as the next president and CEO of the national railway system. Beginning Sept. 1, 2016, Moorman, a retired chairman, CEO, and president of Norfolk Southern Corp., will begin his work to build upon the success Amtrak saw under the outgoing CEO Joe Boardman, who served in the position for nearly a decade. Moorman’s plans for the next fiscal year include launching initiatives to further enhance Amtrak’s safety and customer service, modernize the company’s operations, and guide the company’s implementation of the FAST Act (Fixing America’s Surface Transportation).
