Once considered an exclusive getaway where world leaders and celebrities went to see and be seen in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, El Embajador, a Royal Hideaway Hotel, has unveiled the results of its $40 million renovation that combines the glitz and glam of its past with the enhancements and amenities expected of a luxury hotel today.
After acquiring the hilltop property in 2015, Barcelo Hotel Group began the 2-year process of fully remodeling and re-branding El Embajador, completing the project on Oct. 1, 2017. Operating under the Royal Hideaway Luxury Hotels & Resorts brand, El Embajador has returned to its former 1950s glory, and now features the Bi Wellness & Spa fully equipped with a private pool, a gym, and four treatment rooms, plus rejuvenated luxury suites with views of the Caribbean Sea that range from 440 sq. ft. to more than 5,000 sq. ft. for the Presidential Suite. The property also includes two onsite restaurants: El Jardin and Los Porches.
