Off the Map Travel announce a new Floating in Tromso program for guests to stay on and hunt for the Northern Lights from a new luxury floating barge this winter located off the Arctic coast near Tromso, Norway.

Open for guest use for the first time this winter and built on a ferry from the 1960s, the VOLDA floating lodge has been renovated to the highest luxury specification using classic Scandinavian design. Its location, moored off the coast of Norway’s Tromso Island, makes it well located to use as a base for local land activities by day and as a home for an evening Northern Lights search.

“The lodge offers an incredibly generous space that you wouldn’t expect from a floating lodge. It’s comfortable and relaxing, and you can choose to search out the Northern Lights indoors or outdoors as you stay in one place,” noted Jonny Cooper, founder of Off the Map Travel, in press material.

Measuring 3,600 sq. ft., the VOLDA floating lodge sleeps up to 14 guests in seven bedrooms and comes with an open plan living room and kitchen area, two open lounging zones and one private lounge in the officer’s cabin.

A sample 4-day Floating in Tromso itinerary is priced from $2,429 pp based on a family of four, not including flights. The trip includes three nights at the floating home with all meals, a personal hostess on board, dogsledding and a Northern Lights hunt. All programs can be customized to the wishes of the participants. The program is available through March 2019.
