A Sophisticated Ibizan Beach Retreat
On June 30, 2017, Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay, a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH), will open in Spain’s Balearic Islands on the white-sand beaches of Talamanca Bay, 1.2 miles north of Ibiza Town (a UNESCO World Heritage site) and a short walk from trendy boutiques and clubs of Marina Botafoch. Accommodation options vary from Cool and Deluxe rooms to Junior and Grand Suites, with the most palatial rooms being the expansive Presidential and Royal Suites boasting grand terraces overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, an outdoor jacuzzi, a spacious living room and a private bar.

Amenities include two private seafront pools; a Six Senses Spa featuring signature journeys, anti-aging treatments, and group fitness classes; plus four food and beverage options, including Nobu, a Japanese fusion restaurant; Celicioso, serving healthy smoothies and gluten-free fare; and Chambao, where guests can dine on fresh-caught seafood and Balearic specialties. Conrad Hotels & Resorts is also debuting its first property in a new destination with this month’s opening of the Conrad Bora Bora Nui in French Polynesia, marking the destination’s first five-star resort to debut in 10 years. Located in a private cove on Motu To’opua, a small islet off the coast of Bora Bora, Conrad Bora Bora Nui features 114 guestrooms, including 86 overwater bungalows and 28 tropical garden and beach villas, each with its own wall-to-wall sliding door that leads to an expansive viewing deck with sweeping ocean views. For the ultimate retreat, guests can book one of the hotel’s Presidential Villas, Bora Bora’s only 2-story, 2-bedroom overwater accommodations featuring an upstairs sunning deck and whirlpool, three bathrooms, two dressing rooms and a living room.

Amenities include an infinity pool, an overwater lounge and a swim-up pool bar serving international cuisine, plus the full-service Hina Spa, which offers seven indoor treatment rooms and one open-air space overlooking the lagoon; a kids club; a mini-golf course; a fitness center; retail spaces; and complimentary activities such as kayaking, snorkeling, scuba diving, standup paddle boarding and sightseeing boat tours. For an authentic taste of the islands, guests can dine at the resort’s signature restaurant, Iriatai French Restaurant, offering French Brasserie style dishes with breathtaking views of the lagoon from banquet and veranda seating. There’s also the Banyan Chinese Restaurant, offering an a la carte menu of traditional Chinese cuisine inspired by the provinces of Canton and Fujian, the city of Ningbo and the island of Hainan. Hawaii welcomed its first Hyatt Centric-branded hotel earlier this year in the former Waikiki Trade Center. Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach features 230 spacious guestrooms with floor-to-ceiling windows offering panoramic views of the ocean and Diamond Head, as well as spa-like bathrooms. Onsite amenities include a lounge pool, outdoor seating with circular fire pits, and a 24-hour fitness facility.
