Qatar Airways and Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) have announced a new transit visa that allows passengers with layovers of five hours or more at Hamad International Airport (DOH) to request a complimentary transit visa. With the new system, travelers of all nationalities are able to enter Qatar for up to 96 hours in between flights. All visas are granted at the sole discretion of the Qatar Ministry of Interior.

Passengers can apply for their free transit visa through any of Qatar Airways’ offices, or online at qatarairways.com. To be eligible for the Transit Visa, passengers must have a confirmed ticket for a journey to Qatar, as well as a confirmed onward journey from Qatar, on a Qatar Airways-operated flight.

In addition, Qatar Airways has restructured its fares for international flights transiting through Hamad International Airport to allow passengers the option to make a complimentary stopover in the capital city of Doha without any additional charges to their ticket, on either the outbound or inbound journey. To make the most out of their layover trip to Qatar, visitors can book a Discover Qatar stopover package through Qatar Airways Holidays. Package experiences include desert safaris, city tours, visits to Katara Cultural Village, Souq Waqif and The Pearl-Qatar Island, museum and art gallery visits and architectural tours.
