Thomson Safaris has introduced a brand-new itinerary focusing on the sights and tastes of Tanzania, featuring Tanya Holland, Season 15 contestant on the Emmy Award-winning reality TV series Top Chef and the owner and executive chef of Brown Sugar Kitchen, in San Francisco.

Guests on this 10-day Thomson Safaris itinerary will join knowledgeable Tanzanian guides as they journey through the beautiful landscapes and massive game parks of Tanzania, all while enjoying home-cooked meals from Tanya Holland. In between activities, guests will lounge in luxury at various upscale safari camp sites across the Serengeti. Activities include wildlife viewing during the peak of the Great Migration, shopping at the bustling Arusha markets, and participating in the sustainable living of farm life on Gibb’s Farm, which is an exclusive experience on this itinerary.

“I have never been to Africa and I’ve always wanted to,” Holland said in press material. “Since Zanzibar in particular was such a major stop on the spice route, I want to absorb those smells and flavors. My cooking has always been inspired by spices. I can’t wait to taste ugali, the mishkaki (grilled meats). I love the multicultural influences that are happening in Tanzania from African to Arab to Indian. This makes for an interesting cuisine and the flavors that I love.”

Guests will spend two nights at Gibb’s Farm, owned by Judi Wineland and Rick Thomson, owners of Thomson Safaris. Guests can explore the 30 acres of coffee, 10 acres of vegetables and fruit, five acres of flowers and herbs and a working dairy and pig farm. Participants can also harvest organic ingredients along with the chefs, as well as cook alongside Tanya in the kitchen.
