As traditional caregivers, women are often known for regularly placing the needs of everyone else in their lives ahead of their own. Between work, family and other day-to-day activities, it is undeniably important that women take the time to nurture themselves, and travel is one of the best ways to do just that. So whether it’s hiking inNepal or tasting the culinary offerings of Greece, traveling alone or with other like-minded girlfriends, we’ve found two tour companies that offer vacations designed just for women. Active Journeys Just For Ladies AdventureWomen, Inc., an adventure travel company for women over 30, offers several Girlfriend Getaways that focus on friendship and getting fit. The company’s Trekking in the Himalayas tour, for instance, is ideal for women who want to experience the splendor of hiking in the Himalayan mountain range.

Priced from $4,595 pp dbl, this tour features hikes through verdant valleys and ancient villages, while offering a personal look into the Nepalese culture. The trip also includes accommodations in modernly constructedNepal lodges, a 2-day rafting excursion on the Seti River and a wildlife viewing safari, as well as the chance to ride elephants through RoyalChitwan National Park and explore the Buddhist Temple Complex of Boudhanath. Departure dates are available Oct. 24 and Nov. 8.

Clients looking for adventure a little closer to home? Recommend the company’s Montana Mountain Majesty tour, in which participants can experience premium backcountry hiking on Montana’s trails in the Spanish Peaks, the Madison Range, the northwest corner of Yellowstone, and into one of Yellowstone National Park’s geyser basins.

In addition to hiking, guests will have the opportunity to take a horseback ride across Montana fields, enjoy whitewater rafting on Gallatin River and take a scenic gondola ride to the top of Big Sky’s Andesite Mountain at 8,000 ft. The tour also inclues accommodations at the 320 Guest Ranch, located between Yellowstone Park and Big Sky Ski Resort along the Gallatin River; an old-fashioned hayride and bbq along the Gallatin River; and a wildlife safari and scenic hikes in Yellowstone National Park.
