Legoland Comes to Florida

Already known as a haven for some of the America’s favorite theme parks, Florida is adding yet another attraction to its long list of offerings as the newest location of LEGOLAND.

Slated to open in fall 2011 in Winter Haven, LEGOLAND Florida will be a 145-acre family theme park geared specifically for families with children ages 2 to 12. There will be more than 50 interactive rides, shows and attractions including thousands of impressive LEGO models.

The park, which was conceptualized and put together with the help of Merlin Entertainment—one of the world’s largest visitor attraction operators—will be the company’s second LEGOLAND Park in North America. Among the park’s already revealed areas are the City, featuring a Driving School where children earn their first “driver’s license” and families can compete on the Fun Town Fire Academy ride; the Imagination Zone, where children can build race cars and race against each other; Castle Hill, a medieval area featuring an indoor/outdoor rollercoaster; and Dino Island, where guests take a trip to prehistoric times.

Meanwhile, park guests can also get a first-hand look at how LEGO bricks are made from factory to finish on the Factory Tour, or stroll The Big Shop—one of the largest LEGO retail stores in the country—as well as eat at a number of dining venues. There’s even a dedicated DUPLO Play Area, designed especially for little ones.

“Having worked for Merlin Entertainment all over the world, I know the quality expected and I’m excited to bring a LEGOLAND park to Florida,” says Adrian Jones, the park’s newly appointed general manager. “I can’t wait to see the expressions on visitors’ faces when they see what we have in store for them.” Jones adds that, “Merlin is a major global attraction operator with proven expertise in theme parks. It is a compelling brand with a huge emphasis on guest satisfaction unparallel in this day and age.”

LEGOLAND Florida will join four existing LEGOLAND Parks in Denmark, Germany, the U.K. and California. For more information, visit
