If experiencing the Aurora Borelais is on your client’s bucket list, Steppes Travel is offering a 10-day rail cruise across Russia taking place over New Year’s Eve.

The trip takes place from Dec. 28, 2013 through Jan. 6, 2014, departing from St. Petersburg on board the Golden Eagle, Russia’s only fully en-suite private train. Guests start the trip with two nights in St. Petersburg at the Grand Hotel Europe, taking a tour of Catherine Palace and a horse-drawn sleigh ride through Alexandra Park.

On board the Golden Eagle for New Year’s Eve, guests will learn about the Northern Lights with a reception and discussion with a guest astronomer, followed by a Gala Caviar Dinner in the restaurant car to ring in the new year. Then on Jan. 1, the train will cross into the Arctic Circle so guests can get off and toast the new year with champagne. Highlights of the trip also include visiting the city of Murmansk; experiencing Vladimir, an entire city that is a UNESCO World Heritage site; and the walled city of Suzdal, which dates back to 1024. The journey ends in Moscow, visiting the Kremlin, Red Square, Lenin’s Tomb and more before staying overnight at the Marriott Royal Aurora Hotel.
