Starwood Adds Maldives to Destination Modules

Last month, Starwood Hotels and Resorts launched the fourth destination concentration for the  ProLearning module—Starwood Destinations. Now available at, the new course was developed to educate travel professionals about the Maldives. This unique destination has a rule of one resort per island and Starwood is the resort home for two of those islands.

This module, a short exploration of this beautiful island hideway, teaches travel professional partners the power of story-telling—a proven, effective sales method in winning business.

In viewing this module, travel professionals will learn about Fesdu Island, home to the W Retreat and Spa Maldives. This property features one of the best house reefs in all of the Maldives. More than 65 percent of this property’s rooms are over water, and it boasts the only underground nightclub in the Maldives.

Travel professionals will also get a virtual tour of Furanafushi Island, home to the Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa. This property, one of the first resorts to open in the Maldives, offers 40 nearby dive sites and the Sheraton Kids Club program.

Existing destination modules have already been viewed by thousands of current StarwoodPros. The Mexico Module focuses on the Mexican destinations of Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico City and Cancun and 11 award-winning Starwood properties located in these regions. The Hawaii module highlights the four islands of Oahu, the Big Island, Maui and Kauai and the 11 Starwood resorts that call these islands home. The Caribbean module focuses on Aruba, The Bahamas, Puerto Rico, St. John and the Mexican Caribbean destination of Cancun, and highlights the six Starwood Caribbean resorts in the region.

Each module can be explored one island at a time, and travel professionals can return to their last completed section at any time. Certificates and a virtual concierge are provided for each module. These are the first of several destination-selling modules that Starwood will debut this year.

Almost 25,000 travel professionals have completed the first ProLearning module and are now qualified for STARPRO travel professional rates, bookable at and starting from just $69 a night.
