Sign up for the ASTA Verified Travel Advisor (VTA) certification program, which allows ASTA advisors to distinguish themselves as trusted advisors to the traveling public.
Most of the classes in the program take about an hour to 1.5 hours to complete. Courses consist of a manual, online video, and exam. Once the advisor completes all nine courses, they’ll receive a Verified Travel Advisor certificate. Advisors have 12 months to complete the nine required courses, which consist of: Advanced Public Speaking, Ethics for Travel Advisors, Legal Overview for the Travel Agency Industry, Marketing YOU! Promoting Your Value, Project Management and Planning fro the Travel Advisor, Real World Sales Tactics, The Art and Science of Negotiation, Agency Relationships and the Law, and U.S. Travel Agency Regulatory Compliance 3rd Edition.
To enroll in the program, visit edu.recommend.com. Once on the ASTA certification program site, you can create an account and then use the program name link to view the program requirements and select the blue enroll button. Once you fill out the PDF application and pay the enrollment fee, you’ll receive access to the certification course materials.
In addition, there’s a continuing education component of the program that will be open for enrollment this fall; agents can access these after the completion of the main certification.
