The Tribeca Grand, which was once an avant-garde gathering place for celebrities and the upper crust of New York society, entered a new era this year as The Roxy Hotel with fresh venue concepts as decadent as its legendary namesakes—the 1920s Roxy Theatre and ‘90s dance club the Roxy. Located on the border of SoHo and TriBeCa in Manhattan, The Roxy Hotel’s transformation includes the addition of The Django, an underground jazz club featuring craft cocktails, music and vintage furnishings; Jack’s Stir Brew Coffee, an intimate coffee bar serving organic, fair-trade coffee drinks and organic baked goods; and Blackstones, an innovative salon offering blowouts and barber shop services. The new onsite Roxy Hotel Cinema will screen hand-picked movies, films from independent theaters and locally directed flicks. Dining options include the stylish downstairs cocktail lounge, Roxy Lounge, featuring a classic American menu, plush velvet and leather furniture, and floor to ceiling windows; the modernly designed The Roxy Bar with its long, glossy bar and plush armchairs; and late night hangout, Paul’s Cocktail Lounge is open Wednesdays through Saturdays for guests looking to enjoy hand-crafted cocktails and live music played by New York City DJs.

On the weekend, adults can drop the kids off at the hotel’s Grand Screen private screening room for a complimentary movie (Sundays only) before heading over to the lounge to enjoy a $35 brunch buffet ($15 for children) and $20 unlimited cocktails while listening to live jazz music. Next spring, The Roxy is scheduled to unveil 201 refurbished guestrooms, complete with a refreshed design, custom furnishings, and new amenities such as Frette bathrobes and Roku media devices. From Jan. 3-15, The Roxy is offering a special rate of $200 per night. Regular room rates start at $261 in the off season ($500 during peak season).
