Cruise lines bring a banquet of dining options to the high seas.
Carnival Cruise Line
You’ve heard of Guy Fieri, of course—now he’s expanding his culinary offerings on Carnival with a new smokehouse and barbeque aboard Carnival Magic as part of the ship’s multimillion-dollar renovation. Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse is a casual open-air eatery located on the ship’s Lanai on the Promenade Deck. It features a slew of BBQ faves smoked right on board over hickey and cherry wood, plus mac ‘n cheese, potato salad, collard greens—in other words, all the trimmings. Love film? Love food? Ok, Celebrity Cruises is thinking of you (or those clients who love to mingle the two) and is expanding its A Taste of Film offering to two more ships—Celebrity Summit and Celebrity Millennium. The Rooftop Terrace, with its large screen, lounges, cabanas, soundscape and decorative lighting, just debuted on both ships and serves as the setting for A Taste of Film. The cruise line says that A Taste of Film presents films that “evoke a specific cultural, culinary or destination experience, paired with cuisine that brings the scenes on screen to life through guests’ taste buds.” A Taste of Film debuted on Summit last month, and will debut on Millennium in May. Cheese connoisseurs will want to devour the mozzarella di bufala at the new Mozzarella Gourmet Bar on board Costa Cruises’ ships. The cruise line will be the first cruise line in the world to produce authentic mozzarella di bufala on board its ships. Guests will be able to watch as the cheese is made and sample it while it is still warm. And, of course, the cheese will be paired with an assortment of cold cuts and Italian specialties.
