From Mediterranean retreats to lakeside abodes, here are some of the latest hotels to launch worldwide this year.

Opening next month on the shores of Lake Como in Italy, Design Hotels’ Casa sull’Albero incorporates the area’s natural beauty into its design. The hotel is set up as a series of low-rise blocks sloping toward the water and blending into the surroundings. The 12 loft suites have a glass wall facing the lake and mountains, and local stone and wood are incorporated into the design. Rooms feature WiFi, HDTVs, under-floor heating and humidity control.

Guests taking to the outdoors can relax in the gardens, terraces or in the saltwater pool. Spa treatments—incorporating a music and fragrance concept into the personalized treatments—can also be performed outdoors. In addition, the 24-hour full-service Honesty kitchen offers fresh and local products.

Meanwhile, the 12-story The Ritz-Carlton, Herzliya is opening in Israel this year in the Herzliya Marina, just a 15-minute drive from Tel Aviv and less than an hour from Jerusalem. The seaside hotel features 197 rooms with 82 suites with balconies overlooking the Mediterranean. Rooms include studios; 1- and 2-bedroom suites; and penthouse suites. Since the hotel overlooks the Mediterranean Sea, it’s fitting that its style also reflects the view, with rooms featuring a color palette of sand and deep blue.

The Ritz-Carlton also features a rooftop pool, spa and kosher amenities, including a synagogue and kosher kitchens—making it the first kosher Ritz-Carlton in the world. Call for rates. For more information, visit ritzcarlton.com.
