Traveling through the Canadian Rockies and Europe just became easier with extra destinations added to itineraries and free first-class rail travel included in vacations.

Starting April 23, Rocky Mountaineer will stop in Lake Louise, Alberta, making it the first passenger rail service to stop in the destination for the first time in more than two decades. The stop is part of the First Passage to the West route, which also includes stops in Vancouver, Kamloops, Banff and Calgary.

With the Canadian Rockies Highlights itinerary, your clients will take off on a 6-night trip with 6-night accommodations; two lunches and two breakfasts; two days on board the Rocky Mountaineer; tours in North Vancouver and Banff; a Yoho Park tour; helicopter flightseeing; and station and hotel transfers. Depending on the type of package your client selects, hotels include the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, International Hotel Suites Calgary and Banff Plantation Inn. Rates start at $2,045 pp.

The Lake Louise stop is available on select departures from April 23 through Oct. 23. For more information, visit rockymountaineer.com.

Vacations By Rail is also offering two new itineraries through the Canadian Rockies on board the Rocky Mountaineer, traveling between British Columbia and Alberta.

On the 16-day Rocky Mountaineer & Alaska By Land and Sea rail-cruise tour, travelers start by train and stay in Vancouver before boarding a 7-day Alaska cruise, which stops in Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway and Glacier Bay. The tour continues on land heading from Anchorage to Denali National Park, and then ending in Fairbanks. Rates start at $3,579 pp dbl land-only.

“This new vacation puts a refreshing spin on our classic rail-cruise vacations,” says Todd Powell, president of Vacations By Rail.

Meanwhile, the 8-day Edmonton Mall & Rocky Mountaineer trip is a shopper’s dream, heading to the West Edmonton Mall (no sales tax is also a perk!) and then later to Jasper for a 2-night stay in the national park. Rates start at $1,935 land-only pp dbl.
